The book arrived last night and I immediately delved into it. It is impressive in its scope and I am delighted to see that updates will be made available on the Forever dog website. My journey towards a more holistic approach began many years ago with Dr. Goldstein‘s book the Nature of Animal Healing (1999). Over time and over the life spans of many dogs I have gone from from feeding high-end kibble to raw and now to making food myself. I buy organic pasture raised meats, add in organic fruits and vegetables. I have been using reliable sources for recipes but the information in this book is so much more detailed. Whether it is food or info on vaccines or holistic modalities that can be utilized this book will assist you in making the best choices. It’s a bit of story telling that gives it a vibe of just anecdotal information even when I know it’s based on some research. What bothered me is that the research studies that supposedly back up the claims are not clearly quoted. When you read something as “science based” you expect the sources to be quoted. It should read: 22-110mg/kg and 10-50mg/lb. It was erroneously written with a larger dose calculation for weight in pounds and a smaller calculation for weight in kilograms.
